HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the Kesyukuran ceremony in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong last night.
Upon arriving at the ceremony, His Majesty was recieved by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara at the Department of Adat Istiadat Negara in his capacity as Co-Chairperson of the Jawatankuasa Tertinggi Sambutan Jubli Emas; Minister of Education Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman; Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; and State Mufti, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, as the Co-Chairpersons of the Sektoral Rancangan-Rancangan Keugamaan dan Majlis Kesyukuran Sambutan Jubli Emas.
The monarch was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Last night’s Kesyukuran ceremony, organised by the Sectoral Committee of Religious Programmes and Thanksgiving Ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Celebration, began with the call to Maghrib prayer made by Mudim Haji Suhaili bin Haji Kalong.
His Majesty took part in the mass Maghrib prayer together with other members of the royal family and invited guests. The evening continued with mass Sunnat Hajat prayer led by YB Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.
Following this was the recitation of Surah Al-Waqi’ah, Surah Al-Mulk and Tahlil led by Syariah Court of Appeal Judge, Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin.
A Doa Kesyukuran seeking blessings from Allah the Almighty was then read by the State Mufti.
The call to the mass Isyak prayer was made by Mudim Haji Latif bin Haji Saman, while the prayers were led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, the Chief Syar’ie Judge.
Ceremonies were also held simultaneously in mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide.
In Tutong, the ceremony was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque was attended by Tutong District Officer Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain as the guest of honour.
The guest of honour at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait was Haji Azmi bin Haji Abdul Rahim, the Acting Belait District Officer, while the ceremony at the Utama Muhammad Salleh Mosque in Temburong was attended by Temburong District Officer Mohd Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud as the guest of honour.
