IN CONJUNCTION with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne, the Belait District Ten Pin Bowling Association (PBSPDB) recently conducted a Special Bowling Tournament Edition.
Held at the Grand Seria Bowling Centre, the event was held to enliven the festive atmosphere of the Golden Jubilee Celebration, as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle by adopting a physically and mentally fit citizen.
The three-day tournament was divided into six categories; namely Single Men and Women, Men and Women’s Double, Mix Double, and Four Person team. Twelve teams participated in the tournament – which are SHS, Lumut Rollers, 6’s D’Legend, Mukim Belait-1, Mukim Belait-2, Kingpin, Santai Bowlers, 6’s Hustlers, T Berakas 1, T Berakas 2, K.Stunnerz, and S Stinger.
The Single Men category was won by Pengiran Muhd Aizat bin Pengiran Abu Samah, followed by Rahim Haji Umar and Muhad Faiz Dzuhairy in second and third respectively.
Hajah Sabariah binti Haji Jaya won the Single Women category, followed by Fatin Nur Ashikin Abu Bakar and Fatin Adilah in second and third.
The Men’s Double category saw Pengiran Muhd Aizat and Awangku Hazzequddin from Team Kingpin celebrate victory, while Haji Awang Damit and Haji Zainal Abidin from Mukim Belait-1 in second, and Muhd Faiz Dzuhairy and Khairul Ridhwan from SHS settled for third. In the Women’s Double, Hajah Sabariah and Fatimah from SHS were placed first, while Hajah Lina and Faridah from 6’s D’Legend, and Hajah Noraini and Nurhazwani from Lumut Rollers, got second and third place.
Khairul Ridhwan and Hajah Sabariah from SHS secured first place in the Mix Double category, with Al-Amin and Nurhajirah from T Berakas 2 in second, and Abu Bakar Mina and Nurul Hasinah from 6’s Hustler in third.
The Four Person team category saw Kingpins as the victors followed by T Berakas 1 in second, and SHS settling at third. SHS were crowned the overall champion of the tournament after collecting a haul of three gold and three bronze medals; Kingpins second best with three gold and one bronze; and Santai Bowlers placed third in the overall ranking with two silvers.
