FOURTEEN people were rendered homeless after a massive house fire on Monday night.
Receiving the distress call at 7.44pm, the Fire and Rescue Department’s Operation Centre deployed fire trucks from the Pengkalan Batu Fire Station and Jerudong Fire Station.
DSO Aliman bin Haji Salleh led 17 fire-fighters in an hour-long battle to douse the fire as it tore through the semi-concrete, semi-wooden house at Kampong Bebatik Kulapis.
No injuries were reported.
The house belonged to a local woman who was living with 13 others. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and the trail of damage.
The Fire and Rescue Department reminded the public to not overload the electrical usage for electrical appliances, ensure wiring work is done by a certified company and to not leave cooking unattended.
