UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) launched the ‘Innov8 UTB SB Homegrown Entrepreneurs’ yesterday in its latest effort to encourage its students to be entrepreneurial.
The opening ceremony of the ‘Innov8 UTB SB Homegrown Entrepreneurs’ was officiated by guest of honour Dr Hajah Noor Maya binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of UTB, at Teratak Putih, UTB. Also present at the event were the university’s principal officers, staff, and students.
The event aimed to ignite the spirit of entrepreneurship among UTB students, and act as a platform in promoting their businesses. It also encourages other students in setting up a business, and to develop students’ entrepreneurial networks.
Seventeen entrepreneurs, mainly UTB students, participated. They included Mayang Couture, The Soap Cottage, Hair Henna Dose, Capes Café, Flame Cook, Taste Better, Kitani Youth Forge, Popoi Enterprise, annafoodworldbn, BWN, Nothing Fancy, damanis delight, skimchii.bb, and TechAce – Wrapngo.
The event – held in conjunction with UTB’s Fourth Convocation Festival 2017 – was jointly organised by UTB School of Business, and the Student Representative Council of UTB (MPPUTB).
The theme for the convocation festival this year, ‘Innovate’, is in line with UTB’s ambition to achieve excellence in the areas of teaching, research and community engagement, a UTB press release said.
