THE Lions Club of Belait conducted a project entitled ‘Sight First Project: Sight for Kids’ at Chung Hwa School, Labi recently in conjunction with the World Sight Day, which is observed annually on October 12.
The project was held to provide aid with regard to proper eye care and vision for those residing in more remote areas in the Belait District. This is in line with the World Sight Day’s objective of raising awareness on blindness and vision impairment. This year’s World Sight Day theme was ‘Make Vision Count’.
Thirteen students from Years 1 to 6 of Chung Hwa School, Labi participated in the project organised by Joseph Teo, the organising chairperson and member of the Lions Club of Belait.
Also present were eight members of the Lions Club of Belait led by Zone 11 Chairperson, Edmund Chee. Out of the 13 students, eight required some form of vision aid, such as eye glasses.
