BRUNEIAN alumnus of the High Commission of India Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme on Tuesday met for a sharing session at the residence of the High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam.
The ITEC Programme is a fully funded bilateral assistance programme by the Indian Government, preparing participants for an increasingly globalised world.
The gathering saw sharing sessions by the participants of the recent Asean-India Youth Summit, Asean-India Artist Camp, Asean-India Music Festival, ITEC Programme, as well as a cultural performance.
Nagma Mohamed Mallick, the High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam, in her opening remark shared that under ITEC and its Special Commonwealth African Assistance Programme (SCAAP), India had provided training and capacity building assistance in over 100 disciplines to more than 12,000 foreign nationals from 161 countries, empowering them with not just professional skills, but preparing them for an increasingly globalised world.
“The activities have also been associated with regional and multilateral organisations and cooperation groupings like Asean, Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) as well as India-Africa Forum Summit,” the high commissioner said.
The ITEC Programme is the flagship programme of the Indian Government’s capacity building effort, not only for its magnitude and wide geographical coverage but also for innovative forms of technical cooperation.
