RHB Bank Berhad Brunei yesterday conducted a community activity with students of the Down Syndrome Association (ABLE) at its premises in Kampong Sungai Hanching.
Joining the ‘RHB Touches Hearts Community Weekend’ was RHB Country Head Brunei Operations, Haji Ishak bin Othman.
The ABLE students enjoyed a day of fun with various exciting and interacting activities including Zumba, face painting, colouring, DIY flashcards and classroom decorations, musical chair and dance freeze games.
RHB staff members assisted the children throughout the games with the help of ABLE staff as well as parents and guardians.
Haji Ishak said the event was part of their initiatives in giving back to the community. The programme was conducted not only in Brunei, but also by RHB Banking Group staff across the Asean region, as part of their brand promise ‘Nurture Future Generations’.
“With our theme ‘RHB Touches Heart’, our main objective is to put smiles on the children’s faces, interact with them and try to communicate with them so that these efforts will also touch their hearts,” he said.
RHB Bank Berhad Brunei is the first organisation to work with ABLE after they moved their premises to Kampong Sungai Hanching last August, he said.
RHB Bank Berhad Brunei also contributed reading and learning material to the centre such as the sensory board, toys as well as cash donation. According to Haji Ishak, the contributions were hoped to provide better learning curve for the children of the centre.
The ceremony ended with a prize presentation ceremony to the winning students of each activity.
