THE Brunei Darussalam Veteran Athletics Association bagged 36 medals at the Hong Kong Masters Athletics Championship (HKMAC) 2017 held at Wan Chai Sport Ground, Hong Kong on November 11-12.

The athletics were welcomed at the Brunei International Airport yesterday.

According to team manager, Husna binti Abdullah, the veteran athletes won 18 gold medals, 13 silver and five bronze medals. Four medals were accompanied by broken records.

According to Husna, Brunei were represented only by 17 athletes compared with other countries represented by over 40 athletes. This gave the Bruneians more encouragement to double their efforts to win medals.

She added that athletes from Singapore and Malaysia were the main competitors for the Bruneian athletes but they still managed to win the medals that they wanted.
