LINKTECH registered their first win in the Veteran Low San Shield of the Low San Brunei Open 2017 after cruising to a 76-57 victory over TK Teahouse at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night.
The result meant they enhanced their prospects of sealing a qualifying berth into the knock-out stages after recovering from an opening-day defeat against Digimark.
In contrast, TK Teahouse consigned to their second defeat of the tournament having fallen to GHK in their opening fixture.
Linktech’s Camay was the highest-scoring player of the match after downing 22 points while TK Teahouse’s Liu Kwang Yee notched 15 points in a losing effort.
Linktech captain M Nuguid sunk a three-pointer from the outside to further extend his side’s lead to a formidable 21 points in the final few seconds of the third quarter.
Linktech were again on the offensive as the tricky N Provendido was left on the floor following an illegal block before picking up to slot a free throw.
Provendido was a livewire throughout the game using the space of the court to drive into the front court to add more points.
TK Teahouse captain Koh Ping and Pong Sen Woei exchanged neat passes but there was no stopping the Linktech onslaught.
A Espedido also established form during the match marked by his ability to find a creative pass but unfortunately his team-mate could not get the two points.
The ball was in Linktech’s court in the final few seconds of the match with M Law making a couple of no-look passes while Rex Musa played a cameo role.
Camay also joined the three-pointer club while Tan Wei Ghee’s shot was good for three points on the other end for TK Teahouse.
The competition continues tonight with St Andrews School and much-fancied Juramas battling it out in Group ‘A’ in the Men’s Tool Box Challenge as the top two collides between GHK and Digimark in the Veteran Low San Shield.
