DPMM FC concluded their Great Eastern-Hyundai S League campaign on a winning note after a 2-1 victory over Garena Young Lions at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore last night.

DPMM FC’s most prolific foreign import Rafael Ramazotti had a parting gift after netting his final goal for the club in his last appearance for the club.

In what appeared to be Steve Kean’s final league game in charge, the team were determined to give their departing head coach the best of starts and they did just that as Azwan Ali struck in the 5th minute.

But Garena Young Lions, who only won once all season, pegged back after Yeo Hai Ngee tucked away a penalty with Rosmin Kamis penalised for a foul.

It didn’t take long for DPMM FC to nudge ahead in the tie as whoelse but Ramazotti who rose above the rest to nod home a fine header past the hapless Hairul Syirhan.

DPMM FC midfielder Hendra Azam, who scored a stunner at this very ground two years ago, tried a speculative effort which sailed just over.

Azwan Ali raced into Hendra’s lofted pass but poked over from inside the box two minutes later.

Yeo had a chance to draw his side level for a second time after Ryan Syaffiq’s pass was deflected into his path but blasted his shot from six yards.

Adi Said latched onto a slide rule pass but could only fire tamely into Hairul.

The hosts’ forward Taufik Suparno capitalised on a defensive mix-up but headed wide despite Wardun Yussof was spotted off his line.

DPMM FC finished in eighth place this season with 17 points after notching their fifth victory of the season.
