SOME 300 people from all walks of life took part in the Brunei-Muara leg of Beachathon series 2017.

The event was held at the Muara Beach yesterday.

The Beachathon, organised by Beach Bunch, is aimed to promote clean beaches and public venues for healthy living and the benefit of the public.

The final event of Beachathon series 2017 was divided into three categories: 1km run (for children), 3km run (open), and a 5km run (on the beach).

Rizan Latif, the president of Beach Bunch said this is the final Beachathon series for this year after the success of Belait District last July and Tutong District last August and is planning for another Beachathon series next year.

Meanwhile the first runner to cross the finish line in the 5km run was David Patton who completed the course in 14 minutes and 25 seconds.

In an interview, Patton who has joined all runs in Beachathon series 2017 said, “It’s a good run today and I managed to finish my race within 15 minutes. In the last run, I was slower because of the soft sand which made it harder to run.”
