THE underprivileged in the country continue to receive attention and assistance from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), mainly through the donation of Zakat (tithe) funds or items of necessity.
The latest example of this was the handing over of machinery and woodworking tools amounting to $7,494 to Ajis bin Dollah in a ceremony held at Simpang 77 of Jalan Manggis Dua.
Present at the event to hand over the equipment was Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, who is also Deputy Chairman of MUIB.
The donated equipment was purchased using funds from the council’s Zakat Asnaf Fakir Miskin fund.
The council hopes that the contribution will raise the recipient’s spirit and encourage him to strive harder to improve the living standards of his family.
Ajis, who makes his living fabricating furniture such as cupboards and tables, as well as Keris (Malay dagger), expressed his heartfelt gratitude to MUIB for the donation, reassuring them that he will continue upgrading his furniture making skills to increase his income.
