His Majesty, Najib meet for 21st Annual Leaders’ Consultation

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning held a four-eyed meeting with Dato Laila Utama Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, as part of the 21st Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.

The meeting was held at Cheradi Ratna Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman.

Following the meeting, His Majesty and the Malaysian Prime Minister witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and two Framework Agreements in a ceremony held at the Baitul Masyuarah.

The MoU between Brunei and Malaysia on cooperation in the field of tourism was signed on behalf of the Government of His Majesty by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, while signing on behalf of the Government of Malaysia was Dato Seri Paduka Dato’ Sri Anifah bin Haji Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.

Signing the Unitisation Framework Agreements between the Government of Brunei, represented by the National Unitisation Secretariat (NUS), and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Jamain bin Haji Julaihi, Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office as Chairman of NUS, while signing on behalf of Petronas was Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management, Muhammad Zamri Jusoh.

Also present to witness the signing ceremony was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Also in attendance were Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education as the Minister-in-Attendance; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance II; Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Minister of Development; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Roselan bin Haji Mohamad Daud, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Minister of Finance; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohammad Yusof, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Deputy Minister of Defence.

His Majesty then hosted a luncheon at Baitul Rahmah, Istana Nurul Iman in conjunction with the working visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia for the 21st Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.

Also present at the luncheon were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Malaysian delegation included Dato Seri Paduka Dato’ Sri Anifah bin Haji Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dato’ Seri Hishamuddin bin Tun Hussein, Minister of Defence; Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Minister of Works; Dato’ Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; Tan Sri Dr Ali bin Hamsa, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia; Dato Seri Paduka Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Musa bin Haji Aman, Chief Minister of Sabah; Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak; Datuk Ghulam Jelani bin Khanizaman, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam; and senior officers of the Government of Malaysia and government-linked companies.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia was in the country on a two-day visit.
