NEARLY 200 participants will gather this Saturday evening for the LiveWIRE SMEs 5km Fun Run and 21km Half Marathon Run and 21km Cycling Expedition at the Indoor Stadium in Berakas, marking the run’s third joint collaboration between the LiveWIRE Brunei Business Network (LWBN) and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
The flag off for all three categories will take place at the Indoor Stadium, where the 21km run and cycling expedition course will involve routes at Jalan Kebangsaan and Kianggeh passing through Sungai Kebun and the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge, reaching mid-point at Lumapas before returning back to the stadium.
Members of the public are reminded that there will be police traffic along the designated routes.The 5km Fun Run route will be around the stadium area only. A prize presentation ceremony will take place after the run to conclude the night’s event.
The run, aimed to support promoting LiveWIRE’s eighth SMEs Promotion event, will be officiated by the Programme Director of LiveWIRE Brunei, Pengiran Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Abbas, and will conclude on Sunday at the Indoor Stadium, where the public are welcome to visit booths of 120 local entrepreneurs registered under LiveWIRE Brunei.
The booths will showcase a variety of local goods, delicacies, merchandise and services. The public can also participate in activities and games from 10am to 10pm on Friday, 9am to 10pm on Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sunday.
This year marks a key milestone for LiveWIRE’s SMEs Promotion, now in its eighth year since it began in 2006 with only 15 participating businesses exclusively from LWBN at the time. “Since then, registration of booths had grown from 60 during the 2008 SMEs Promotion in Temburong to 175 in the 2014 SMEs Promotion held at the Indoor Stadium,” said Pengiran Redzuan about the event.
Another main highlight of the SMEs Promotion will be a Forum and Dialogue session on e-business. A session on ‘Copyright’ which will be delivered by the Copyright Section at the Attorney General’s Chambers, Prime Minister’s Office and another session on ‘Starting up e-business’ to be delivered by the founder of Naindah BN.
Other activities and shows such as car / motor show, exotic pets, horse riding, flying fox, mass aerobics, soccer tournament, science show, bubble monkey, martial arts, eating competition, and Chainblock Strongest Men and Women Fun Challenge will be held throughout the weekend-long SMEs Promotion event.
The event will end with a certificate and prizes presentation ceremony on Sunday by the guest of honour, Javed Ahmad, the CEO of DARe (Darussalam Enterprise).
A display show by ‘Anak Kuat’ will be part of the opening and closing ceremonies. Maju Motors Sdn Bhd, TCY Motors Sdn Bhd, NBT (Brunei) Sdn Bhd and Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) will also participate.
