WITH the vision to establish the first biggest online marketplace in Borneo, Babakimpo.com was officially launched at the atrium of Times Square Shopping Centre yesterday.
The launching of Babakimpo.com was officiated by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communications.
Siti Syazwana binti Haji Mohd Zulkifli, Assistant Marketing Manager of Babakimpo Sdn Bhd, in her welcoming remark, underlined that since the establishment of Babakimpo Sdn Bhd on February 15, 2017, its role has evolved, branching out into providing various services including marketing consultancy, sales analysis, photography and videography services.
“We pride ourselves in our most unique proposition – ‘Sharebuy’, a feature which enables our registered customers to ‘share’ purchases, making online group shopping possible, interactive and convenient,” she said.
“In doing our part to contribute to Brunei Vision 2035, Babakimpo opened its doors to iReady candidates. By providing appropriate training, Babakimpo has enabled them to experience working in an industrial e-commerce setting,” she added.
She stated that the role of Babakimpo as an online trading platform also aims to facilitate the diversification of Brunei’s economy from oil and gas to go-to website for online consumers not just within Brunei, but also regionally.
“We are in a time where technology is constantly developing and improving. Automation through technology has made it easier for us to interact, connect and be informed,” she said.
The grand launch event then continued with plaque signing ceremony by the guest of honour followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The guest of honour was then invited to visit the booths.
With the slogan, ‘Brunei’s Biggest Online Marketplace’, the mission of Babakimpo is to open doors of opportunities for local entrepreneurs to be extensively involved in e-commerce, through the establishment of a fundamental platform for consumer purchasing in the online industry, while simultaneously encouraging Brunei citizens and residents to spend within the national borders.
Various activities are conducted during the two-day event including Muslimah Fashion Dress-up session, live makeup tutorial, Helmi Abdullah Fitness (HAF) Bootcamp Race, food guessing game, children’s colouring activity, lucky draw and others.
