HIS Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan), yesterday attended a Tahlil ceremony to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Yayasan.
The Tahlil ceremony for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam took place at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong.
On arrival at the Royal Mausoleum, His Royal Highness was greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors; Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Vice Chairman I of Yayasan Board of Directors; and Dato Paduka Eddie bin Dato Paduka Haji Sunny, Managing Director of Yayasan Board of Directors.
Yesterday’s Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil ceremony was led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin, Syariah Court of Appeal Judge.
His Royal Highness, prior to his departure, also consented to pour ‘ayer asah-asahan’ on the tombs of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit.
Present at the ceremony were Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, Vice Chairman II of the Yayasan Committee of Governors; Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, member of Yayasan Committee of Governors; members of the Board of Trustees of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans, officers and staff of Yayasan, teachers from YSHHB School and residents of Kampong Bolkiah ‘A’ and Bolkiah ‘B’ housing schemes.
Yayasan was established with the consent of His Majesty on October 5, 1992 in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne.
It was established as a charity platform of His Majesty and members of the royal family to render assistance to those in need as a sign of care and love towards the people and help build a prosperous and harmonious nation.
