PARENTS who brought their children to the Women and Children’s Centre at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital yesterday shared their thoughts on the services there that were recently moved from the Child Development Centre (CDC).

Since being integrated at RIPAS Hospital, the CDC services are now known as Developmental Paediatric Services.

Pengiran Khairul Aisamuddin bin Pengiran Saifuddin is a religious teacher, who was taking his six-year-old son Awangku Hanin Hibatullah for an appointment at the Developmental Paediatric Services of the Women and Children’s Centre yesterday.

Sharing his thoughts on the new location of the CDC services, he said, “For us, as parents who utilised the services at CDC in Kiarong before, the thing that we like the most is that everything is now in one place.”

In terms of the facilities, he said that the environment at the new location is an improvement. “The environment here is better. The facilities are pretty similar, but there is more here.”

While he noted that parking is not as easy at the new location as it used to be at the older location, overall he said that he was satisfied with the services and system.

“This is because all the specialists are here. Before, at CDC in Kiarong, we would often get referred here. So here, even if we are waiting, at least we know everything we need is in one place.”

When asked what he would hope for in terms of services, he said, “The comfort of children and parents is the most important thing, as well as not troubling or burdening parents. I just hope for it to be easy and quick.”

He added that, on the whole, the service is better at the new location. “At the moment there are no problems.”

Mohd Amin bin Haji Abdul Hamid and spouse Asrinah binti Haji Sisa also brought their four-month-old baby to the Developmental Paediatric Services for an appointment there yesterday.

They have four children, with their baby being the second child to be referred for CDC services. The first was their two-year-old son.

On their experience at the Developmental Paediatric Services so far, they said that the services had improved compared to before. They did note, however, that the shuttle bus service had been a bit slow.

When asked what they were hoping for following the integration of CDC at the hospital, they said that services at the CDC in Kiarong had been good and quick, and that they are hoping to continue seeing the best possible services being provided for their children.

Through information provided at the Developmental Paediatric Services section, the Ministry of Health (MoH) explains that with the integration of CDC to RIPAS Hospital it will be able to provide better quality care through the pooling of resources such as staffing and manpower, assets and facilities.

“It will be easier to coordinate an integrated care of children in this conducive environment with easy access to all services,” the ministry highlighted.

The ministry has explained that it is consolidating CDC services to RIPAS Hospital for better and clearer high impact outcomes. The expected outcomes include reduced wastages (such as waiting time), improved clinical effectiveness and efficiency as well as better value for patients/clients.
