AS A symbol of solidarity, perseverance and loyalty towards the sovereign and country, the national flag unifies people from all walks of life, as they prepare to celebrate the 34th National Day and achieve the aims of the national Vision 2035, said the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, yesterday.

In his sabda at a ceremony held in Sayyidina Othman Secondary School in Tutong District, for the distribution of thousands of miniature flags to schools nationwide for the upcoming 34th National Day, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar said that the national flag is the bearer and symbol of the national identity that is rich with Bruneian values and the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy, through the representation of its colours, emblem and slogan.

“Therefore, citizens and residents who embody excellent qualities or Bruneian attributes are urged to respect and protect the sovereignty of the national flag,” he said in his sabda.

The Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara also called on grassroots leaders, including mukim penghulus, village heads, youth leaders, community leaders and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to constantly remind their respective communities about the shared responsibility and trust in upholding the national flag.

“To establish Brunei Darussalam as a developed nation, it is our joint responsibility to continually encourage people from all walks of life to uplift their own enthusiasm and determination in achieving the Brunei Vision 2035,” he said.
