Long service awards to 354 RBAF members

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to award 354 members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) with Military Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.

The ceremony at the RBAF Training Institute Parade Square, Penanjong Garrison saw 18 officers and 336 personnel with other ranks receiving the medals.

The award ceremony was officiated by Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the Commander of the RBAF, as the guest of honour. Present during the event were RBAF Services Commanders, Joint Force Commander, commandants, directors, RBAF senior officers and officers.

The medal is awarded to military personnel in recognition of their commitment in serving the armed forces for 18 years with good conduct and discipline.

The award is also an encouragement to other members of the RBAF to continue the spirit of professionalism and excellence in the military.

In his speech, Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan said that the Military Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, also known as PKLPB, is given to recognize the recipients’ disciplined and loyal service. He hoped that the awards will inflame the spirit of patriotism and strengthen allegiance towards His Majesty. He also noted that the award recipients were selected based on certain assessments and screening, not just based on their period of service.

In an interview, 1013 Lt (U) Selawati binti Sambli, 13580 SSJN Haji Rosaimi bin Haji Lamit and 13570 SJN Mardi bin Haji Mohd Dagong expressed their gratitude to His Majesty for awarding the honour.
