THE first Spectrum Ninja Warrior Brunei event was held at the ‘Skatedium’ skate park near the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last Sunday.
Participants of the event comprised 16 individuals with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The event aimed to showcase the participants’ skills in manoeuvrability through courses. It also sought to have families work together to navigate through the courses while having fun.
Co-organiser of the event, Malai Faizul, said the event was inspired by a special moment with his son when they navigated through a series of courses together for fun.
“The Spectrum Ninja Warrior event is also a journey of self-discovery. Parents can spend time with their children and discover new things about them and about themselves as well,” he said.
“Alhamdulillah, we managed to garner strong support from parents and children as we increased the number of participants. The children explored the courses with their family members and performed simple tasks throughout the challenge,” he said. “It’s not a competition but a chance for participants to exhibit their talents in their own way. We hope to host another event in the future where more children can come and enjoy the different courses and challenges.”
