The team, comprising Pengiran Md Musa bin Pengiran Anak Jafari, Haji Md Khairul Jamaluddin and Haji Shairul bin Pehin Dato Ahmad, clinched the first place with the score of 57 (-14).
“Today was a perfect day and we have a very good team. We have fun together,” Miguel Carballo said.
Team member Haji Shairul said, “Miguel Carballo has given us some tips on the swing as well as parting during the game.”
Second place went to a team led by Poosit Supuramai of Thailand, which comprised Pengiran Anak Haji Mohd Basheer bin Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr) Kemaludin Al-Haj, Johari Ahmad and Mumin Shawal with the score of 58 (-13).
Miguel Carballo, who is making his debut in Asian Development Tour (ADT) through Richard Mille Brunei Championships expressed his confidence of winning the championship.
“This is my first tournament under ADT and my first tournament here (in Brunei). The course is very open for birdie and I am confident of getting a good start,” the Argentinean said.
Carballo, the only Argentinean to hold an Asian Tour card for the 2018 season, was unaffected by the condition. “The weather is just a little hot. It is perfect condition. The green is good,” he said.
Meanwhile, tournament favourite George Gandranata of Indonesia is looking forward to the championship.
“It’s my first time playing here. The golf course is really good. The green is a bit slow but pure. I was having fun this morning in the Pro Am. I was hitting pretty well and parting well.”
Asked on his chance of winning the championship, he said, “I feel pretty confident. I’m just going to go out there and successfully execute by plan of attacking the golf course.”
