Prohibited medicines, products seized in operation

THREE-HUNDRED-AND-FORTY medici-nes, 202 traditional medicines and supplements as well as 30 cosmetic products containing prohibited subst-ances were seized by enforcement personnel from the Ministry of Health (MoH) in a joint operation led by the Law Enforcement Unit of BSB Municipal Department yesterday at a premises in the heart of the capital. Eighteen premises were inspected.

Officers of the Royal Customs and Excise Department during the operation found cigarettes believed to have been smuggled. A suspect was brought back for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the enforcement officers from the Law Enforcement Unit of BSB Municipal Department issued seven compound fines to seven individuals for dumping rubbish in public places which is an offence under the Minor Offences Act Chapter 30. Meanwhile, enforcement personnel from the Immigration and National Registration Department issued two letters to summon employers and two individuals were issued with special pass. Eight foreigners were questioned for further investigation. Three restaurants premises were inspected and were found to be in satisfactory level.
