THE psychometric and standard tests used by the Public Service Commission (SPA) have been evaluated to provide a positive result on the quality of nominated candidates while the systems are relevant and appropriate to be used in the country, said YB Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office. He was responding to a query on psychometric test for candidates applying for B2 posts in the government sector by YB Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman, a Legislative Council (LegCo) member at the 14th LegCo session on Saturday.
The minister added that both test systems are used in selecting suitable candidates who possess the skill, mental ability and behaviour as well as the ability to receive and process information and make decisions within a limited time which are required for B2 posts and above in a government sector.
“SPA conducts studies to review the psychometric as a procedure for candidate profiling and not as short-listing,” he said.
Speaking on the PSC Computerised Assessment Ma-nagement System raised by YB Pengiran Haji Mohamed, YB Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti said the SPA fully implemented the system in November 2017.
Since it is only on its fourth month of implementation, the test will be conducted at SPA’s building to monitor the system’s stability and its effectiveness before extending it to other locations, he added.
