MORE than 107 Cubs and Junior Scouts members completed the Scouts Camping Activity held by the Belait District Scouts Association (PPDB), with a closing ceremony held at the Viewing Gallery of the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC), Seria.
The Scout Camping excursion was held over the course of three days at the surrounding compound of the OGDC. The guest of honour was Haji Metussin bin Orang Kaya Sura Haji Tuba, President of the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD); was welcomed by Mohammad Hatta bin Haji Suhaili, chairman of the camping activity.
Also present was Haji Damit bin Haji Awang Chuchu, Vice-President of the PPNBD; commissioners from the PPNBD headquarters; Mohd Arif bin Abdul Hadi, Commissioner of the Brunei-Muara District Scouts Association; Terry D Jayasuriya, Chairman of the PPDB; Chai Tze Yun, Vice-Chairman of the PPDB; and Major (Rtd) Haji Karim bin Sapar, Secretary of the PPDB.
During the ceremony, Mohammad Hatta said, “The activities conducted enable members to develop and polish their skills as a scout.” He concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude to OGDC, as well as parents and school for supporting the activities in realising the 2024 scout’s vision.
The guest of honour hoped the lessons learnt during the camping excursion, will develop not only their knowledge but also to reinforce the spirits of scouting.
Certificates was handed by the guest of honour to the facilitators and representatives of each of the scouts team.
A small gift of appreciation was also given at the end of the ceremony to the guest of honour by representative of the Cubs Scouts group to commemorate the momentous occasion.
