A ‘FAKE grenade’ found at the parking compound of the Syariah Court in Bandar Seri Begawan sparked a security alert yesterday.
According to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), the Central Police Station received a call alerting it about a ‘grenade’ at 10.11am.
Acting on the information, police personnel who rushed to the scene cordoned off the road immediately.
Investigation by the Special Operation Force confirmed the ‘grenade’ as fake.
The item is currently being thoroughly examined by the Special Operation Force personnel. The RBPF said it will continue to provide explanation on any such incident, urging members of the public not to spread false information
People are also reminded not to panic and believe any unverified information.
It is an offence to own any type of firearms and explosives under Chapter 58 of the Arms and Explosives Act.
The RBPF also advised the public not to go near or touch any suspicious material and immediately contact the police at 993 or the nearest police station if they come across anything that is believed to be an explosive.
