Joint operation records 45 traffic offences

THE Department of Traffic Control and Investigation (JSKLL) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and District Police recorded 45 compound cases nationwide in an operation conducted jointly with several law enforcements in the country, recently.

The operation was carried out in all four districts and involved personnel from the District Police, RBPF, Land Transport Department, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Religious Enforcement Section at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

In the Brunei-Muara District, the operation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Hamri Aslan bin Haji Abu Hanafiah, Acting Head of Operation and Enforcement, while in the remaining three districts it was led by their respective traffic control investigation officers.

The operation which involved a total of 178 law enforcement personnel also recorded 12 cases of under the Customs Act, two traffic rule violation cases and one case under the NCB Act.

Four locations were targeted in the operation which began at 10pm with roadblocks set up at three entry points into the country – Kampong Kuala Lurah in Limau Manis, Immigration and Customs Complex in Sunga Tujoh Control Post Kuala Belait and the Kampong Puni Border Control Post. In Tutong, the roadblock was set up at the Bukit Panggal highway area.

The operation aimed at ensuring that the respective law enforcement agencies implement the law in jointly curbing, tracking and combat ingcriminal activities in the country.

The RBPF reminded members of the public to always be careful and observe the traffic laws to avoid legal action.
