MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin yesterday officiated the launch of the Islamic Calligraphy, Paintings and Art Exhibition at the Malay Technology Museum in Kota Batu.

The High Commission of Pakistan in Brunei Darussalam is co-hosting the event with the Museums Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), and Kaleidoscope Studio – to mark Pakistan’s 78th National Day celebrations.

The launch began with a recitation of verses from Al-Quran.

In his welcoming speech, Pakistan High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Major General (Rtd) Tariq Rashid Khan expressed hope that visitors would enjoy the exhibition, which features both historical and artistic exhibits, and open the window to the history, culture, people and beauty of Pakistan.

“The two visiting artists will conduct classes on Islamic calligraphy, oil and water colour painting, landscape painting and glass work at the Malay Technology Museum (from March 25 to 30) for students and individuals who wish to learn about or polish their skills in these areas,” he said.

“We are fortunate to have leading Pakistani artists Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi and Maseera Rehman here in Brunei,” he added.

The renowned artists will be showcasing their artworks – which will feature Islamic calligraphy, various landscapes, glass work and paintings of selected monuments of Brunei Darussalam.

The minister toured the art exhibition as well as the cultural exhibition situated on the other section of the gallery.
