THE Ministry of Defence (MinDef) received an introductory visit from General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of the Army Staff, Pakistan Army yesterday at Bolkiah Garrison.
Upon arrival at the ministry, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who is in the country from March 25-27, went on to pay separate courtesy calls to Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Defence II, and Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
During the visit, General Qamar Javed Bajwa and his RBAF counterparts discussed potential avenues to further strengthen the bilateral defence relationship between Brunei and Pakistan.
Prior to his visit to the MinDef, General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid a visit to the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) headquarters at Berakas Garrison where he was presented with a guard of honour from RBLF personnel.
He also paid a courtesy call to Brigadier General Khairul Hamed bin Haji Lampoh, Commander of the RBLF.
Brunei and Pakistan enjoy good defence and military relations, which are maintained through various platforms of cooperation such as the conducting of high-level visits, professional exchanges, multilateral exercises, trainings and courses.
