BRUNEI Rugby Football Union is looking at working with the Japan Embassy in Brunei to promote Rugby World Cup in Japan which is set to take place in 2019.

The cooperation came during the courtesy call made by President of Asia Rugby, Aga Hussain to Motohiko Kato, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam recently.

Dr Haji Kamaruddin bin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, the Acting President of the Brunei Rugby Football Union expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for the opportunity for local rugby players to take part in the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) programme.

Motohiko Kato hopes that many Bruneians will go to Japan to watch rugby in 2019 and that rugby in Brunei will improve by having a pro league, good management and facilities.

It was noted that Japan Rugby Football Union is looking at the possibility of bringing in a coach to promote rugby.
