TWO hundred flood victims from the Temburong District whose homes were affected by heavy downpour and flooding in December last year received government financial assistance yesterday.
The assistance was handed over by Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports at the National Service Programme (PKBN) Training Camp in Batu Apoi in the Temburong District.
Twenty-three villages from Mukim Bangar, Mukim Amo, Mukim Bokok and Mukim Batu Apoi in the Temburong District were affected, and the Community Development Department (JAPEM) also provided assistance in terms of food (packed meals) and food ration to the victims.
It is hoped the government financial aid can lessen the burden of the flood victims.
Also in attendance were YB Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, a Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Bokok; Haji Amer Hamzah bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS); Roslinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir, Acting Director of JAPEM; Mohammad Khairul Shahrul bin Haji Duahim, Acting Temburong District Officer; senior officials at the MCYS and JAPEM, mukim penghulus, and village heads.
