MoE enlivens Bandarku Ceria activities

HUGE crowds flocked to Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital yesterday to participate in the activities organised by the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education (MoE) together with Heroes Event Management.

The activities, which included a bicycle ride, run and booths selling various items, were organised to run in parallel with Bandarku Ceria programme.

The chief guest was Nadia Lee Siew Hoon binti Abdullah, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE.

Marina Chek binti Bujang, Acting Director of Schools, and Hajah Anis Faudzulani binti Haji Dzulkiflee, Acting Director-General of Education at the MoE, welcome the chief guest.

Some 150 people participated in the cycling event while 1,500 people participated in the running event. Participants comprised teachers under the MoE, students and members of the public.

A total of 20 booths selling various products from students of several primary and secondary schools such as food, drinks and handicrafts were set up at the event.

An activity promoting a reading culture called ‘Bersama Menjayakan Budaya Membaca’ was held by representatives from the School Library Monitoring Unit, Department of Schools.

The day’s activities began with warm up exercise followed by the chief guest flagging off the cycling event which covered a distance of 11km. The 3km run around Bandar Seri Begawan, starting and ending at the Taman, commenced shortly after.

The activities were meant to enliven Bandarku Ceria while at the same time to get the staff of the MoE to participate in healthy activities.

A prize presentation ceremony for winners of the event’s lucky draw was held at the end of the programme. The winners received their prizes from the chief guest.

Heads of departments and units, senior officers, officers, school leaders and staff under the MoE were also present.
