A TOTAL of 371 Year 6 students from the Arabic Preparatory School participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony recently to mark the completion of the recitation of 30 Juzuks of the Al-Quran at the Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Present as the guest of honour was Haji Rusli bin Haji Md Salleh, Acting Assistant Director (Corporate Services) Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The ceremony commenced with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour followed with the reading of verses from the Al-Quran by the Year 6 students.
It was then continued with the recitation of Takhtim by a group of Year 5 students.
The ceremony later saw the recitation of Doa Khatam Al-Quran by Najla Sabreena binti Haji Abdul Rajid and a Dikir Marhaban by Year 5 students.
The guest of honour later presented certificates to the participants.
Since 2006, a total of 1,856 students from the school have managed to complete reading the 30 Juzuks of the Al-Quran.
Among the objectives of the event was to uphold His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s vision in making Brunei Darussalam as a Zikir Nation.
It was also aimed at encouraging students to always practice reading the Al-Quran precisely and fluently so as to seek blessings from Allah the Almighty.
