DPMM FC will be facing their biggest test so far in the Singapore Premier League when they clash against reigning holders Albirex Niigata (S) at the Jurong East Stadium in Singapore tonight.
Rene Weber’s men passed their first test after beating AFC Cup competitors Home United FC 4-2 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on match-day one.
But they will face the early pacesetters who are chasing for a historic 28th consecutive victory at their adopted home at the Jurong East Stadium.
The ‘Gegar Gegar’ men are equipped with a potent attacking line-up with Volodymyr Prryomov and Mojtaba Esmaielzadeh set to lead the firing line.
Both foreign attackers have already opened their accounts with Volodymyr showing how lethal he is from two yards the same as from a free-kick.
DPMM FC’s vice captain Azwan Salleh has been pleased with the contributions of the duo in the opening fixture but believe that more can be expected of them.
“They have helped the team improve in many ways and I’m very sure both have similar aims, which is to score as many goals as possible for our team,” Azwan told the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) website.
“It’s still early but I truly believe they will make an excellent impact to the team. That is what we are expecting from them too.”
Apart from making the Jurong East Stadium a fortress for visiting teams, the White Swans also boast an unbeaten record which stretches all the way back to July 2017.
DPMM FC are without a win in three matches against Albirex and will be looking to set things right to outline their title credentials in Weber’s second competitive game in charge.
