THE divine benefits of congregational prayer were highlighted yesterday by Ustaz Haji Muhammad Naqib bin Haji Awang, a religious teacher at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), while delivering a pre-dawn talk at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.
“Praying in congregation is a community obligation (Fardhu Kifayah), which is 27 times more rewarding, since it removes our sins and elevates our status in the sight of Allah the Almighty,” he said.
Among those present were Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
The pre-dawn talk was part of the weekly ‘Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat’ programme, which allows the Muslim participants of ‘Bandarku Ceria’ to begin their day in spiritual reflection and prayer.
