MINISTER of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attended the 16th edition of Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2018, an international defence exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the invitation of the Malaysian Government recently.
With participation from over 1,500 companies and 60 countries, the 16th DSA 2018 showcases the latest updates on defence industry development, technology, products and services in various defence and security fields.
The exhibition is being held at the newly opened Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The minister also attended the Putrajaya Forum 2018 held in conjunction with DSA 2018, carrying the theme ‘Recalibrating Regional Security Architecture’.The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, officiated the forum.
The forum drew participants comprising policy makers, defence and security agencies, think tanks as well as academicians in discussing and sharing knowledge to promote understanding on regional and international defence and security issues.
Recently, the minister called on Malaysia’s Minister of Defence Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein at the MITEC where both sides discussed strategic regional and global security issues and expressed satisfaction on the close defence relations shared between both countries. Both sides also discussed future bilateral defence cooperation.
Also in attendance during the visit were the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud; High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia Dato Paduka Haji Alaihuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Haji Awang Mohd Taha; and senior officers from the Ministry of Defence and the RBAF.
