THE government has been exploring ways to provide a more comprehensive and fully integrated business ecosystem.

This was shared by Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, while delivering a speech yesterday at the presentation ceremony of the 11th LiveWIRE Business Awards 2017-2018.

Addressing the young entrepreneurs in attendance, he said, “I sincerely salute and congratulate all of you for making a very bold decision to become entrepreneurs. I know you could have chosen an easier path, but you didn’t.”

He said that the journey of an entrepreneur is one that is very challenging, that will open up many opportunities but also many risks and a lot of obstacles. “But whatever the outcome, you will come out much stronger.”

He assured that the government through various ministries and agencies fully recognises “your determination and the challenges well ahead”.

“We have been exploring ways on how to provide more comprehensive and fully integrated business ecosystem… We have looked at the critical areas of the entrepreneur’s business life cycle so we can come up with more concrete and specific actions.

“We are also working with various government agencies and the private sector to create more business opportunities, specifically for young entrepreneurs,” he continued. “All these ideas and improvements will be integrated and incorporated as part of the existing programmes and hopefully will be able to launch over the course of this year.

“I am also pleased with the involvement of private sector companies such as LiveWIRE Brunei in developing entrepreneurs,” he added.

Concluding his speech, the deputy minister said, “Once again I would like to congratulate today’s recipients and be assured we know that you are embarking this journey because you know as a nation we need young entrepreneurs to ensure our country remains as a prosperous and peaceful nation. Our economy, our society and our future rely on your successful journey.”
