Competition selects the best in memorisation, interpretation of Al-Quran

TWENTY contestants competed in the finals of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran Memorisation and Interpretation Competition that was held yesterday at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Present as the guest of honour for the morning session of the competition was the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Haji Mohammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar.

The afternoon session saw the presence of the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, as the guest of honour.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah. The morning session of the competition was divided into five categories with five contestants competing in each category. However, only four categories were contested during the competition yesterday.

In Category ‘D’, five contestants namely Mohammad Aqiel Hidayat bin Haji Zulfa Hidayat; Mohammad Saiful Wafi @ Aman bin Haji Adis; Nor Hafizah binti Haji Jahari; Awangku Muhammad Abdul Majeed Ariffin bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Abdul Aziz; and Assrinna binti Haji Ibrahim yesterday showcased their abilities in memorising the 15 Juzuk of the holy Al-Quran and the interpretation of Juzuk 10.

Category ‘E’ saw another five contestants – Awangku Muhammad Abdul Qadir bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim, Dayangku Nurol Hafizah binti Pengiran Haji Tejudin, Nurulain binti Haji Abas, Irma Mohammad Hazmie bin Haji Metussin and Muhammad Hazri bin Haji Mohd Hamzani – presented their skills in memorising 30 Juzuks of the Al-Quran and the interpretation of Juzuk 21.

The afternoon session also saw five participants in Category ‘C’ – Hajah Norhidayatul Mukminah binti Haji Puteh, Abdul Aziz bin Noor Nasran, Hajah Adzimah Mukarramah binti Haji Salleh, Siti Nuriezatul Afiqah Farhana binti Mohammad Sumadi and Muhammad Saifullah bin Rosli – who competed in memorising three Juzuks of the Al-Quran and also, the interpretation of Juzuk 3.

Afterwards, another five contestants who were selected to compete in Category ‘B’ namely Awangku Mohamad Khairul Hakimin bin Pengiran Mohd Aminuddin, Awangku Muhammad Fakhrur Razey bin Pengiran Damit, Ayeshah binti Mohamed Shalahudeen, Bani Nurun Nasyithah and Nur Syafiqah binti Mohammad Saidi competed in memorising the selected verses including Surah Luqman, Surah As-Sajdah, Surah Yaasiin, Surah Al-Insan, Surah Ar-Rahman, Surah Al-Waaqi’ah and Surah Al-Mulk as well as the interpretation of Surah Al-Jumu’ah, Surah Al-Munafiqun and Surah At-Talaq for 15 years and below.

The final five participants, comprising Razin Hakim bin Abdul Razak, Muhammad Nurhidayatullah Al-Mu’min bin Awang Rossnan, Mohammad Wafiq bin Haji Saidi Ghalib Khan; Waliyah binti Haji Kamarul Azam and Azyan Adibah binti Mohd Hanafi will compete in Category ‘A’ today (June 2), on the second day of the competition, followed with the presentation of souvenirs to the participants and judges.
