A DELEGATION led by the Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, Motohiko Kato made a goodwill visit to Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) recently.
The two-member Japanese delegation included the Ambassador’s Second Secretary Hiroki Akasaka. Both were welcomed by UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal.
Dr Haji Norarfan was joined by UNISSA Deputy Rector Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad and UNISSA Director of International and Public Relations Centre Haji Sammali bin Haji Adam in receiving the Japanese delegation.
The ambassador’s visit aimed to explore opportunities in educational cooperations and sharing of the Japanese culture.
The Japanese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam has been involved in many cultural and educational activities with Brunei Darussalam.
UNISSA, as an internationally recognised Islamic university, has supported and laid out opportunities through exploration in programmes such as the Halalan Tayyiban Research Centre and the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance with strategic cooperations of Japanese universities.
UNISSA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Osaka in October 16, 2017 in conjunction with UNISSA’s 7th Hafl Al-Takharruj.
The visit also included discussions on prospective programmes offered by UNISSA that Japanese students can take. With such exchange, UNISSA students will also be able to learn about the Japanese culture which is rich in technology and environmental care.
