THE ‘Seminar on Understanding of Faith and Current Thinking 2018’ (SEKAPES 2018) ended yesterday at the Tarbiyah Hall of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) after two days of discussions by religious academics and experts across the region.
The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, who presented souvenirs and certificates to invited speakers.
Also present at the closing ceremony was Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administrative and Financial Affairs) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
SEKAPES 2018 was held under the theme ‘The Creed of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah as a Basis for National Wellbeing’.
The seminar’s key resolutions were highlighted and presented to the deputy minister by Dr Mikdar Rusdi, a Senior Assistant Professor from the Usuluddin Faculty at KUPU SB.
Among the main participants were Major (K) Associate Professor Dr Mohd Mizan bin Mohd Aslam, the Rector at the Universiti Islam Perlis; Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, the Deputy State Mufti of Brunei; Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr Sayyed Muhammad Aqiel bin Ali Al-Mahdaly, the Academic Advisor at the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); Ustaz Haji Saharuddin bin Haji Patra, the Acting Assistant Director at the Syariah Affairs Department of the MoRA; Dr Haji Matussein bin Haji Jumat, a Religious Officer from the Usuluddin Faculty of KUPU SB; Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, the former Minister of Religious Affairs in Brunei; Dato (Dr) Haji Nooh bin Gadot, Advisor of the Johor Islamic Religious Council; Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of UNISSA; Professor Dr Ali Sayed Abdel Hamid el-Syimi, a Professor from the Usuluddin Faculty at KUPU SB; and Associate Professor Dr Syamsul Bahri Andi Galigo, the Director of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah Studies Centre of Research and Understanding at KUPU SB.
