MORE than 500 local and foreign cyclists turned up at the Santap Hall in Kuala Belait for the starting point of the Brunei Classic 2018 organised by the Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation yesterday.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and guest of honour Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali flagged off cyclists who participated in two categories – the 100km (Veteran, Women and Challenge Ride) and 160km (Elite and Master).

Imam Akop bin Haji Lamat, Mosque Affairs Officer at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, recited Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat to bless the cyclists on their journey from the Belait District to the Brunei-Muara District.

The route took the cyclists past various landmarks in the Belait, Tutong, and Brunei-Muara districts before finishing the race at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan.
