There is also an opportunity to establish the Teddy-Bear Museum such as the one in Korea at The Empire Hotel & Country Club and development of an untouched area of Tasek Ikas Bandung in Tutong District into a tourism destination.
She made these comments when the Korea-Brunei Friendship Association (KBFA) and Brunei-Korea Association for Friendship (BKAF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further enhance the relationship between Brunei Darussalam and South Korea during a welcoming dinner ceremony at I-Lotus Restaurant in Kampong Rimba yesterday.
The MoU was signed by KBFA Chairman Lee Sang Won and BKAF President Dr Haji Kamaruddin bin Dato Paduka Haji Taib. Witnessing the signing was Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry Dato Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw.
The MoU signing was made to promote cooperation and exchanges between the people, culture, and economy of both countries.
The welcoming dinner was held for 16 KBFA members comprising presidents, chairmen, vice-chairmen and managers of several private companies in South Korea.
Lee Sang Won said as of February 1 this year, the association comprises 80 Korean companies and its purpose is to promote economic development and friendship between Korea and Brunei Darussalam.
“To achieve this goal, we will promote mutual understanding and friendly relations between the two countries through exchanges and activities in various areas, including cultural events and exchange of people, and business collaboration,” he said.
He believed that with the establishment of close and particular relations through the association, the two countries will further develop their relations with the participation of related organsiations, companies and personnel from all walks of life.
Dr Haji Kamaruddin, meanwhile, said the MoU signing will establish a relationship and signifies the commitment of Brunei Darussalam and Korea to strengthen friendship, business collaboration as well as research in culture, economy, education and sharing experience between both.
He added, “I would like to thank Sinar Holdings for leading the path to this MoU signing with the associations and we will continue to work together with Sinar Holdings to deepen the relationship between the two countries.
“Since our establishment in 2004, BKAF aims to promote friendship and cooperation, enhance mutual understanding in social and cultural life, and to foster tourism, academic and cultural exchange between the people of Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea.”
