A ROADSHOW themed ‘Protected Together, #VaccinesWork’ was held by the Ministry of Health (MoH) through the Health Services Department last Sunday, April 29 at The Mall, Gadong in commemoration of World Immunisation Week 2018.
The event aimed to draw public attention on the importance of an integrated approach to ensure that every individual is protected from diseases that can be prevented through the administering of vaccines.
The roadshow also aimed to raise awareness on the role and importance of vaccination as a safe and cost-effective method to protect everyone from chronic and life-threatening diseases, as well as their importance in not only protecting vaccinated individuals but also the community at large.
It additionally harbours the intention to spread the message that immunisation is the responsibility of all, and that family, the community and health professionals all need to work together to help stem the proliferation of preventable diseases.
The roadshow featured an exhibition booth, poster pinups, information on vaccinations such as a vaccination FAQ and booklets, World Health Organization (WHO) video clips on measles, rubella and hepatitis, as well as vaccine related quizzes and colouring activities for children.
The roadshow will next be staged at the KB Sentral Shopping Centre this coming Sunday, May 6.
World Immunisation Week, which the MoH celebrated this year from April 24-30, is a health campaign celebrated worldwide annually to raise awareness on and increase the rates of immunisation. It seeks to encourage individuals, families and the general community to play active roles in helping lessen the prevalence of vaccine-preventable diseases globally.
