THE Enforcement Unit of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board recently issued a compound fine to a local company based in Kuala Belait under Section 12 (1) (b) of the Minor Offences Act, Chapter 30.
Syarikat Sariah Sdn Bhd was found to have indiscriminately disposed rubbish consisting of mattresses, pillows, wooden material, umbrellas and boxes at a public area in front of Lot 2599, Jalan Petai, Kuala Belait.
The firm was given seven days to settle the fine, failing which the matter will be taken to courts. If convicted of the offence, the company will be handed an initial fine of BND1,000. A BND3,000 fine or imprisonment not exceeding three months will be levied for subsequent offences.
The Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board reminded the public to not leave rubbish in public areas and to always properly dispose unwanted material at designated dumping sites.
