HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam yesterday arrived in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, for a State Visit from May 3-4.
Accompanying Their Majesties are His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Present at Soekarno Hatta Airport to welcome Their Majesties and members of the royal family were General (Rtd) Dr H Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia; and senior officials from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.
Also present were Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Indonesia and wife.
Upon arrival, Their Majesties were presented with a bouquet of flowers. Their Majesties then walked past a static guard of honour. Their Majesties later boarded a motorcade towards a renowned hotel in Jakarta where Their Majesties would be residing throughout the duration of the State Visit.
The diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Indonesia were established in 1984, and since then both countries have enjoyed the growing economic and trade cooperation as well as cooperation in the field of defence, education and agriculture. The relations were further strengthened with His Majesty’s state visits to the republic as well as state visits of President of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam.
Earlier in the day, prior to leaving Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was recited by Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
Present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to Their Majesties were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Nor’ain; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Nasibah.
Also present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria; Cabinet Ministers; members of the Privy Council; deputy ministers; the Acting Commissioner of Police, and the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces as well as their spouses.
