UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam (UBD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) on Saturday, renewing a five-year partnership between the two institutions.
The signing, held at the Integrated Sciences Building in UBD, is a renewal of the MoU originally signed on June 14, 2012.
Signing on behalf of UBD was Vice-Chancellor Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, while SHNU was represented by Chairman of SHNU Council Professor Teng Jianyong. Also present were UBD principal officers and SHNU representatives; Director of International Affairs Office Dr Wu Cheng, Director of Human Resource Dr Chenglai and Director of Academic Affairs Dr Gao Xianping.
There have been active student exchanges between UBD and SHNU in the past five years, particularly through UBD’s Discovery Year programme.
The scope of the renewed MoU includes the exchange of students, faculty members and publications, as well as collaborative research.
Both UBD and SHNU look forward to the next phase of strengthened research collaboration in additional fields, including environmental science and herbal plants as well as increased mobility between the two universities among the students and researchers, a release stated yesterday.
