THE nation recorded the birth of 14 new babies (eight male and six female) on May 6, in conjunction with National Family Day 2018.
The ‘Anakku Kesayanganku’ event was marked with a Doa Kesyukuran and presentation of gifts to the newborns’ parents at ceremonies held at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital in the Brunei-Muara District and Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait.
Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Asbi, spouse of Minister of Religious Affairs; and Datin Hajah Norhaida binti Haji Sulaiman, spouse of the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, presented the gifts to parents at RIPAS Hospital.
RIPAS Hospital recorded 12 newborns (six male, six female). The first birth was recorded at 2.44am, to proud parents Maskuri and Jamiatul Asiah Iding.
At the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital, special guests Datin Paduka Hajah Jahrah binti Haji Muhamad, spouse of Minister of Home Affairs; and Datin Hajah Zalina binti Haji Omar, spouse of Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office handed gifts to the new parents.
The hospital recorded the birth of two males. The first birth was to proud parents Mohammad Shahirul bin Haji Adam and Anita Omar.
No births were recorded in the two other districts.
The gifts – in the form of baby necessities – are an initiative by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, together with Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Health as the joint coordinator of the National Family Day celebration.
This is Brunei’s sixth celebration organised in conjunction with National Family Day.
