FOR 61 recruits of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Police Constable Recruit 1/2017 batch the passing out parade ceremony yesterday morning at the RBPF Training Centre ground was a proud moment as they successfully completed their eight-month training.
Attending the ceremony as guest of honour was Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office and Director of the Internal Security Department Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Muhamad Sazali bin Pengiran Haji Yakob.
Also present were Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, the Commissioner of Police alongside Assistant Commissioner of Police Pengiran Haji Muhammad bin Pengiran Haji Metali, the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, as well as other senior RBPF personnel.
Upon arrival, Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Muhamad Sazali inspected the guard of honour formed by the new recruits and delivered his welcoming remarks, before presenting awards to a select few outstanding recruits.
Recruit 6507 Muhd Ashaari bin Zaini, who received the Best Overall Recruit award is a former student of Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School and a graduate of the Youth Development Centre’s Information Technology and Communication course.
He told the Bulletin that he had always admired the work of the police and had dreamt of becoming a policeman since his school days.
“I felt proud and blessed because I managed to complete the training with good results thanks to the support from my parents as well as the guidance from the trainers at the Police Training Centre,” he said. Another recipient, Recruit 6523 Muhammad Zikir Jauhari bin Abdul Rahim @ Lampuh received the Best Recruit in Law award.
Muhammad Zikir Jauhari completed his studies at Cosmopolitan College, majoring in Information Technology.
According to him, “being a good police personnel is not an easy task,” and “needs a strong heart, discipline, honesty as well as strong mental and physical strength, a profession where there are many challenges and obstacles to face.”
He said he felt blessed to be able to complete his training and thanked his family for their support.
The Best Recruit for Outside Training and Marching award went to Recruit 6481 Mohd Alauden bin Mohd Ali. Mohd Alauden, a former student of Sayyidina Husain Secondary School, said he chose this career due to his interest in becoming a police officer and also to help his family financially.
He said, “Thanks to the support of my family, I was able to complete the nine months of basic training.
“I would also like to thank the instructors who have taught and guided me and my fellow new recruits for their support during the training.”
