HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam yesterday received in audience Halimah Yacob, President of the Republic of Singapore and spouse Mohamed bin Abdullah Alhabshee along with a delegation.
Their Majesties welcomed the arrival of the President of the Republic of Singapore and spouse at the Istana Nurul Iman.
Their Majesties, together with Halimah Yacob and spouse, then received the salute of honour on the dais, which was followed by the national anthems of both countries and a 21-gun salute. The two leaders then inspected the guard of honour mounted by members of the Royal Brunei Land Force.
The President of the Republic of Singapore and spouse were then introduced to the members of the royal family; state dignitaries; Cabinet Ministers; deputy ministers; the Commissioner of Police; the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Singapore and their respective spouses.
The delegation of the President of the Republic of Singapore includes Heng Swee Keat, Minister of Finance; Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Lim Hong Huai, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam; members of Parliament; and senior officials from the Republic of Singapore.
Shortly after, an audience ceremony was held at the Cheradi Laila Kenchana. Also present at the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam as well as other members of the royal family.
After the audience ceremony, His Majesty held a bilaterial meeting with Halimah Yacob and her delegation at the Cheradi Ratna Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman.
Also present at the bilaterial meeting were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa bin Pehin Datu Perdana Manteri Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Ibrahim, Special Advisor to His Majesty and the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Defence II; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Dato Seri Paduka Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Finance II; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II; and Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education as Minister-in-Attendance.
During the meeting, His Majesty and Halimah Yacob discussed bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore and exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concern.
Following the bilaterial meeting, His Majesty and the President witnessed the signing ceremony of the ‘Innovation Functions Co-operation Agreement’ between Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) held at Baitul Mesyuarah, Istana Nurul Iman.
Meanwhile, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Financial Intelligence Unit, Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam and the Suspicious Transaction Reporting Office, Commercial Affairs Department, Singapore Police Force concerning ‘Cooperation in the Exchange of Information related to Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing’ was signed between AMBD and the Commercial Affairs Department, Singapore Police Force.
Also present at the signing ceremony was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.
