THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) received 2.5 tonnes of dates contributed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during a ceremony yesterday.
The presentation ceremony marked the fourth time it has been conducted.
The dates were presented by Hussain Mohammed M Al-Dajani, Charge d’Affaires at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Brunei Darussalam to Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA.
Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Acting Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre and Haji Sham bin Haji Amin, the Acting Assistant Director of Mosque Affairs, MoRA were also present.
According to a press release from the ministry, the contributed dates are of the Khalash variety and will be distributed to mosques, suraus and religious halls as well as Muallaf associations that are selected in the four districts.
“Efforts such as this show the good cooperative relationship that exists between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Brunei Darussalam, as well as demonstrating the close and friendly relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” adds the press release.
