THE Minister of Defence II, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, yesterday received an introductory call by newly appointed Chief of Army, Singapore Army, Brigadier General Goh Si Hou.
During the call, the minister highlighted the close bilateral relationship manifested through regular exchange of visits, dialogues, meetings, exercises, trainings, courses, exhibitions and the various forms of development and interaction programmes.
Both defence establishments cooperate extensively in multilateral forums particularly ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM-Plus. The Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) and Singapore Army also have various activities together, including the annual Ex Maju Bersama.
As part of his visit programme, Brigadier General Goh Si Hou also made a courtesy call to Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Commander of the RBLF, Brigadier General Khairul Hamed bin Haji Lampoh.
Brigadier General Goh Si Hou was appointed as Singapore’s Chief of Army on March 21, 2018.
Prior to his appointment, Brigadier General Goh Si Hou was the Commander for 6th Singapore Division. He is in the country for his introductory visit to Brunei Darussalam from May 14-15.
